#CyberFLASH: Vigilant Regina mom poses as daughter on Facebook to nab child lurer


REGINA — A vigilant Regina mother took matters into her own hands when she discovered a man attempting to lure her 11-year-old daughter through Facebook.

Having found sexually suggestive messages written to the girl, the mother posed online as her daughter to see what the man’s intentions were.

“I knew that was the only way to get any results out of anything, because if I told him ‘this isn’t (the daughter),’ that would have been the end of the conversation and he would have vanished,” the mother told the Leader-Post following sentencing for the man, Lee J. Duczek, on Thursday.

The mother — who can’t be named because of a court-imposed publication ban preventing identification of the girl — said since it’s difficult to keep children off of social media sites, it’s crucial to keep a close eye on their online activities.
